Coach Travis Whitten is an assistant boys lacrosse coach for the Mira Costa High School varsity boys lacrosse team. During the 2009 Season Coach Whitten helped lead the Mustangs to a Bay League Championship and a trip to the LA County Championsip, while specializing on the offensive side of the field.
Coach Whitten grew up in Wilton, Connecticut where he was a 3 sport varsity athlete and won 4 State Championships in lacrosse.
He then went on to continue his lacrosse career while attending Duke University in North Carolina, where his team played in the team's first Final Four in 1997, and played in two ACC Champioships. Coach Whitten was also a four time All ACC Academic Team Selection while attending Duke.
Coach Whitten also comes from a family tradition of coaching excellence in lacrosse. His father, Guy Whitten, is a Hall of Fame High School coach winning over 400 games and 17 Connecticut State Titles during his career. His brother, Alex Whitten, is the current head coach of the New Canaan High School boys team, one of the premier lacrosse programs on the east coast, who in his young coaching career has already won one State Title and Connecticut State Coach of the Year honors.
